Joanna Ruth Livioco
Ruth Livioco is a violinist, music educator, and a collaborating pianist. She is a passionate music teacher with over 15 years of teaching experience for students of all ages in both the private lesson setting as well as group classes. She particularly enjoys the thrill of teaching younger students and the special enthusiasm and creativity it calls for. Her formal teacher training was under the tutelage of Hwang Kyung Ik and Ronda Cole and she continues to study and improve her teaching skills and techniques through research and regularly attending teacher courses and workshops.
As a violinist, she has performed at Carnegie Hall as well as other prestigious concert halls throughout Asia and the USA as well as various master classes and festivals. She has been a member and featured soloist of the Manila Symphony Orchestra and the assistant concertmaster at the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra. Her concert tours with Asian Youth Orchestra included cities such as Hong Kong, Tokyo, Taipei, Seoul, Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Beijing with Asian Youth Orchestra. She has a Bachelor of Music in Violin, cum laude, from the University of the Philippines and Master’s degree in Violin Performance under Elizabeth Chang from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst where she was also a member of the UMass graduate quartet.
Besides teaching, Ruth loves chamber music, accompanying her friends and students as a collaborating pianist, and also serves as violinist and pianist in her church.
