The piano is an excellent instrument for laying a strong foundation of music education. Our piano department offers supportive and quality instruction for all levels and ages. We place an emphasis on individuality in learning and provide hands-on, tailored instruction. For students looking for an instrument to study, the piano's basic structure allows for the fundamentals of music to be learned through a visual and comprehensive approach, which can be easily transferred to other instruments. Students will explore musical concepts such as note reading, rhythm, melody, harmony, style and expression.
Within the department at LSM there are many options to explore the piano. Start learning the fundamentals as a young beginner in our popular introductory group piano program Music for Little Mozarts, enjoy a uniquely crafted one on one private lesson, take RCM assessment testing, prepare for a music career in our Pre-College program or take advantage of our many performance opportunities to share your art.

"My daughters have been music students at Lindeblad School of Music for several years now. Over the years, I have seen their interest in music develop into a true passion. Lindeblad teachers are not only very knowledgeable and highly accomplished but they are also well-attuned to each students' personal style and needs. I love that there is also such camaraderie and sense of family among the staff as well as students and their families." - Myla from Montville NJ
"In 2015, we went to Lindeblad looking to buy a piano. I didn't even know that they had a music school. Two years later, our son Jonathan had performed in two recitals at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall and performed with an orchestra at Merkin Concert Hall. We are very proud of his accomplishments which would not have been possible if not for Lindeblad School of Music." - Carol from Rutherford, NJ

"In my teaching I try to open the music for my students, so that it can live deep in their hearts. I believe this is the most fundamental goal for a music teacher, because when students have music living in their hearts, it will guide them in the right direction and will definitely find its way to life.” - Mr. Grigory Smirnov, piano faculty
